Gonzalo Pieres is well known worldwide in polo as one of the greatest representative in the history of this sport.
He played for the first time in 1976 in the Palermo Open and, after that, he won several tournaments not only in Argentina but also in the rest of the world.

In 1990, Gonzalo won, together with his team, the Palermo Open for the sixth time and announced his retirement from the high handicap competences.

At that time, he started playing abroad with Kerry Packer, Australian, fan of this sport and successful business man in his country.

From that relation, which started because of the polo, a deep friendship was born which made Kerry propose Gonzalo to come back to high competence polo with the objective of winning the Argentinean Open.

Gonzalo accepted and Ellerstina was born. Each of them offered the horse they had. Kerry’s and Gonzalo’s enthusiasm, leadership and professionalism completed the keys needed to face that challenge.

With immediate high success, they won the most important tournaments of high handicap in Argentina, including the Palermo Open three times.

After consolidating Ellerstina in Argentina, Gonzalo retired from high competence and started to lead the organization in all its business areas. Focused on horse breeding by means of extraordinary genetic selection, he fosters the biotechnological development in its two embryos transfer centers, the horses selling in the international market, the organization of international prestige tournaments, as the Gold Cup, the Polo-week as school and the polo lodge, and the Polo Team in the most important tournaments in the world.

All the above mentioned shows Gonzalo’s skills to innovate create and implement paradigmatic changes in polo.
During his stay in Ellerstina lots of players reached 10 goals of handicap and, nowadays, the main horses’ awards, local and internationally, are from products under Ellerstina’s genetics and breeding.

In real state, he developed projects such us as La Lechuza, Centauros, La Baronesa, El Monte, El Yacare, Lagunas del Polo and Ellerstina itself, making this areas of Pilar the most prestigious international polo center.
Married to Cecilia Rodríguez Piola, they have five children, two of them, Gonzalo (s) and Facundo have 10 goals of handicap, and the youngest, Nicolas, 7 goals so far. Together with their two girls, Tatiana and Cecilia, they from a family that proudly shares Gonzalo’s success and transcendence in the polo world.
